What a great night to celebrate The Global Goals World Cup Champions, Team #Goleadoras! Next to my dearest Ricky we recognized the impact and work towards the well-being of girls and women everywhere.
Ricky Martin is not only a friend, supporter and the greatest fan, he’s now an agent of change and ally of the #Goleadoras inviting everyone, individuals and corporations alike, to join a project that will further a society where girls will have access to equal opportunities.
“You are already a leader,” Ricky told Sara, the captain of the team. “Goleadoras is already producing results on the ground, and that it is thus changing the ‘game.’”
I want By 2020, that the Goleadoras program to be present in all five boroughs of New York, and Sara is one of the thousand girls we want to help grow and be who they want to be.
““Since I have started my program with Goleadoras, I have set my dreams as goals and with teamwork we want to achieve them the same way we won this trophy. When the Prime minister of Norway handed it out me as the captain of the Goleadoras team, I was happy, and I felt my grandmother and mother’s pride,” ”
Our board director and trustee Julie Larson-Green was there. “It is quite remarkable to see how fast a program like Goleadoras started to create impact,” She was the former Chief Experience Officer at Microsoft and now the Chief Experience Officer at Qualtrics, so she knows a thing or two about women in leadership positions. She believes that there is a lot of interest in girls coding, but ultimately developing girls’ self-confidence, sense of identity, of discipline and physical conditioning are all necessary to become a successful leader.
I always wanted to improve a girls’ self-confidence and helping them to become independent thinkers, we can keep breaking gender barriers with a positive and empowering message. Thats why Goleadoras its such an important, sustainable and scalable project to be reproduced all over the world.
The founding board of directors at Goleadoras include Julie Larson-Green, Microsoft’s top woman executive until the Fall of 2017 and the executive who led the creation of Windows 7; Carmen Busquets, a pioneer in the effort to transform fashion retailing through technology at companies such as Net-A-Porter, where she was the founding investor; and Mireya Cisneros, a leading Latin American philanthropist who has supported causes throughout the region.
